It is with tremendous sadness that we learned of Wayne Allwine’s passing this past Sunday, May 18; he was 62.
Wayne took over from another Disney Legend, Jimmy Macdonald, in 1977. He had attended an open audition and won the role, making his debut with The New Mickey Mouse Club in 1977. Jimmy was Wayne’s mentor through the years and later said:
It’s a great honor to keep alive what Walt loved so dearly and what Jimmy kept alive so well.
It is fitting that he met, fell in love with and married Russi Taylor, the voice of Mickey’s love interest, Minnie Mouse. He is survived by Russi and their 5 children and one grandchild.
You can learn a bit more about this Disney Legend at his page on Disney.com. Our deepest condolensces go out to Wayne’s family and friends along with out tremendous gratitude for his years of bringing joy into our lives.
