Disney Channel’s special summertime lineup, Summer of Stars, kicks off FRIDAY MAY 29, with a cavalcade of special event episodes, new double-feature movies and marathons of kids favorite series.

Highlighting Disney Channel superstars Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, Summer of Stars celebrates the strong connection that kids age 6-14 have with the entire lineup of Disney Channel talent. Disney Channel.com, the #1 entertainment website for Kids 6-14, will also launch a new supersite, game or activity every Saturday to coincide with Summer of Stars.

Disney Channel has been cable television’s #1 network in primetime among Kids 6-11 for 16 consecutive quarters and #1 among Tweens 9-14 for 39 consecutive quarters.

In making the announcement, Paul DeBenedittis, Senior Vice President, Programming, said: “Disney Channel is the summer destination and our new Summer of Stars schedule, with weekends as its cornerstone, is set to deliver great stories and the brightest stars for kids and tweens.”

Fridays nights, beginning Friday, May 29, will feature the winning series “The Suite Life on Deck,” “Phineas and Ferb” and “Wizards of Waverly Place.” Highlights include four new vampire-themed episodes guest starring Bridgit Mendler (“JONAS“), Anne Ramsay (“Dexter“) and JD Cullum (“Leatherheads“), plus the upcoming “Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana,” a 90-minute event that brings three hit series together for one star-filled story aboard the S.S. Tipton. Select Fridays will also deliver special telecasts of feature films, including an uninterrupted presentation of Disney’sThe Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe” on Friday, June 19 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT). Other dates will be announced shortly.

Beginning Saturday, May 30, Disney Channel will present its double-feature Saturday movie night. Titles include the sing-along and dance-along telecasts of the hit Disney Channel Original MoviesHigh School Musical” and “High School Musical 2” on Saturday, June 20 (7:00-10:00 p.m., ET/PT), and Walt Disney Pictures’ Academy Award-winning “Ratatouille,” plus “Happy Feet” and “Another Cinderella Story,” starring Selena Gomez. Other dates will be announced shortly.

Sunday evenings, beginning Sunday, June 7, will include the all-star lineup of “Sonny With A Chance,” “Hannah Montana” and “JONAS,” plus feature film presentations. Among the highlights are Selena Gomez (“Wizards of Waverly Place“) guest starring as herself on “Sonny With A Chance,” Sunday, June 7 (8:30 p.m., ET/PT); Cody Linley (“Dancing With The Stars“) guest starring on “Hannah Montana” on Sunday, June 7 (7:30 p.m., ET/PT); Radio Disney’s Ernie D guest starring on “Hannah Montana” on Sunday, June 14 (7:30 p.m., ET/PT); and an episode of “JONAS” in which Joe joins the school orchestra, where heís assigned to play the triangle, and it’s up to Kevin and Joe to help him play a classical piece of music, airing Sunday, June 28 (8:30 p.m., ET/PT).

Summer also brings the premiere of the Disney Channel Original MoviesPrincess Protection Program,” starring Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, on Friday, June 26 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT), and “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie,” starring the cast of the hit series, in August (date to be announced).
