Right after the fireworks and celebrations of the Christening of the Disney Dream by its godmother Academy Award winning actress Jennifer Hudson,we moved to the terminal to await boarding the ship for our cruise. As we entered terminal the mass of people moving through was needless to say enormous. As we got on the escalator to go upstairs a couple of ladies got in between my family and me. As I turned to see just where my wife and daughter were I immediately noticed the woman that slipped in between us was none other than another Academy Award winning actress Marlee Matlin.

Naturally my wife could not tell who she was from behind so I motioned to Ms. Matlin and told my wife who she was. As we approached the second floor, I mentioned to her I was a fan of her work and wished her well. Her interpreter came over and asked if we would like to take a picture of her; as a daddy of 2 little girls I am always on the lookout for examples of strong women for them to look up to. Ms. Matlin is the youngest actress ever to win the Academy Award with her role in Children of a Lesser God in 1986.

Ms. Matlin could not have been more gracious to me and my family and it made the start of an amazing adventure that much more special. Other stars sailing on the ship with us that day were (although I did not see all of these folks): Whoopie Goldberg (Academy Award winning actress), John Stamos (Uncle Jessie, ER and more), Sam Champion (ABCs Good Morning America), Kyle (The Search for Santa Paws) and Christopher Massey (Fishooks), Cheryl Burke (Dancing with the Stars), Lacey Schwimmer (Dancing with the Stars) and Samantha Brown (Travel Channel). You can check out some pictures of these stars over at Disney’s own blog here.

We have lots more from our cruise and have been working feverishly to get all of the content together. We will continue to bring our story of the Disney Dream to the site as well as all the news around Disney’s World.
