Shanghai Disney Resort revealed the design of its “Igniting the Dream” parade float and the live entertainment that will accompany the float for the upcoming 2015 Shanghai Tourism Festival, slated for the grand opening parade on September 12. It is the second consecutive year Shanghai Disney Resort will participate in China’s leading annual tourism festival. The parade float blends distinctly Chinese elements and authentic Disney storytelling to create magical experiences that guests will find in the future resort. For the first time, six carts will join the main float to showcase the six themed lands in Shanghai Disneyland, the theme park at Shanghai Disney Resort.
The parade float and live Disney entertainment will highlight Shanghai Disney Resort as a whole new world of imagination and thrills. A friendly welcome by a joyful troop of Disney cast members will lead the way, dancing to the melody of “Welcome Home”. The song is written specifically for Shanghai Disney Resort by Chinese artists. The dancers will weave around six themed carts with beloved Disney characters riding on top to greet the roadside spectators.
The main float will follow close behind. It will feature a giant Chinese lantern at the front and take the form of the resort’s iconic Enchanted Storybook Castle. Wrapping all the way around the base of the float, bright postcard renderings can be found celebrating some of the key attractions at the resort. Mickey Mouse and his pals will spread the joy as they ride the float, greeting all the guests along the parade route. The colourful Disney stars shining above will light up the promise of Shanghai Disney Resort – “Ignite the Magical Dream within Your Heart”.
With less than one year before the grand opening of Shanghai Disney Resort, we are thrilled to participate in this tourism festival and to demonstrate our commitment to bring the best of Disney experiences to the people of China. We are proud to represent Disney’s immersive world-class entertainment to local residents and millions of TV viewers across China, sharing with them the resort promise ignite the dreams within their hearts.

The float will debut on Saturday, September 12 at the grand opening parade of the 26th Shanghai Tourism Festival. Afterward, it will set out for a road show through several districts from September 13 to October 6, allowing more residents and tourists to enjoy this Disney magical experience.
In 2014, Shanghai Disney Resort made its debut at the parade of this international tourism festival, adding a special Disney entertainment element to this popular event for the first time. Blending authentic Disney features with distinctly Chinese elements, the specially designed Shanghai Disney Resort “Happy Dream” float was awarded the “Most Popular Float of the Year” after receiving the highest number of votes from a public poll.
