The ride that inspired a movie franchise has now come full-circle with the recent upgrades. Disney has since added the likes of a certain Captain Jack Sparrow to the lineup of cut-throats, villains and pirates you will see on your voyage.
Although one of the most popular attractions at Disneyland, Pirates was not originally planned for the Florida project (later to become Walt Disney World). Due to Florida’s proximity to the actual Caribbean it was thought there would be little interest in an attraction focused on pirates.
The original planned attraction had been one of cowboys and Indians, but there was such an outpouring of demand it was later added to the overall planning.Due to the accelerated time line, the ride itself is not as robust as its Disneyland counterpart, but remains a popular ride and one that is not to be missed.
