The Associated Press is reporting that the Milne and Shepard estates have authorized a sequel to the beloved Winnie the Pooh books written by A. A. Milne which will be released October 5th of this year.
The new author is to be novelist and playwright David Benedictus and will be illustrated by Mark Burgess. This team has already worked on some Winnie the Pooh material and hopes are high that they can capture the essence of the original stories, beloved by millions around the world in this new tale Return to the Hundred Acre Wood.
It is still unclear whether The Walt Disney Co. will have any productions available from this new story due to some ongoing legal entanglements between the company and the author’s family. Let’s hope, though, that things can be worked out to continue the wonderful tales of the Hundred Acre Wood to another generation of children.
