There is a lot coming up in the weeks and months ahead at our favorite destination, the Walt Disney World Resort. Be sure to block out some time to be able to enjoy all of the events and celebrations that the parks have to offer us.

ESPN the Weekend

The first item we have to look forward to happens later this week; ESPN the Weekend. A full weekend of your favorite athletes and ESPN celebrities will converge on Disney’s Hollywood Studios to broadcast shows, interact with guests and add a bit of star power to your weekend. Olympic Gold Medal Winners, Hall of Famers and more will be on hand for shows, motorcades, broadcasts and to meet the fans during the weekend. Admission to the park is required.

The Museum of Pin-tiquities

The actual event is not until June, but registration for the event opens Februay 25, 2009 at 2:00 pm.

Atlanta Braves Spring Training

Ah, the boys of summer are getting ready and their training begins February 26, 2009 and runs through March 30 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports. Tickets are still available for games, but usually sell out quickly, so reserve your day to see your favorite teams battle it out in a great venue. Check out the schedule and get your tickets today.

Disney’s Princess Half Marathon

In continuing with Walt Disney World Resort’s dedication to sporting and fitness events, the Disney’s Princess Half Marathon weekend will be March 6 – 8, 2009. This is the Inaugural event dedicated just to the women athletes and the weekend will celebrate them with events throughout the weekend, culminating with the half marathon.

Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival

Every year it keeps getting better and this year should be no different. The annual festival begins March 18, 2009 and runs through May 31. Throughout the festival there will be themed weekends hands-on events, guest speakers, concerts every weekend and more. Make sure to reserve your calendar so you can spend some time wandering through the festival. Admission to the park is required.

Earth Day

In keeping with the traditions of the resort, Earth Day will be a weekend of celebrations to educate and entertain everyone and runs from April 17 – 22, 2009. The big event, though, will happen on April 22 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and will have events running throughout the day. Admission to the park is require.

Wrapping Up

These are only a few of the upcoming events that The Walt Disney Resort has planned for its guests. It is shaping up to be a great close to the Winter season and the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is always a wonderful way to kick off Spring.
