WDWNews has announced the new restaurant by Iron Chef America superstar Cat Cora will be opening in the Fall of 2009 on Disney’s Boardwalk in the space currently occupied by Spoodles. The restaurant’s name is Kouzzina (Greek for Kitchen) and is said will offer dishes based on her Greek roots and Southern upbringing.

About Cat

Cora was born and raised in a Greek community in Jackson, Mississippi, United States. Her grandfather and father were both restaurateurs and Cat was inspired by chefs as divers as Julia Child and her grandmother, Alma. Her cuisine is a blend of her Greek and Southern roots like her favorite dish Kota Kapama (Greek cinnamon chicken), Garlic Couscous, and slow-cooked lamb shanks with feta salsa verde. She has also coined the term Hellasian, referring to a fusion cuisine combining Greek and Asian cooking.

In 2005, she made television history on Food Network’s Iron Chef America as the first and only female Iron Chef, including the Japanese version of Iron Chef.

Disney Clips

Not only is Cat Cora a world-renowned chef, author and really nice lady (we met her at the last Food and Wine Festival when she took the time to stop filming spots to talk with my 2 little girls) but she is also a star of multiple TV shows. Here you can find some clips from her Disney Channel Show, What’s Cooking With Cat Cora.

Wrapping it up

Having enjoyed her cooking on television for years, I am excited by the opportunity to dine at one of her restaurants. And with its location on the fringe of Epcot, it will make it easy to have a perfect night out with a dinner at Kouzzin and fireworks at Epcot.
