Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival always seems to be the #1 destination for mother’s on Mother’s Day. In our family it is a tradition that will continue this weekend as we take in all of the special events taking place this May 8 -10, 2009.
Great American Gardeners
There are some very special presentations happening this weekend with the Great American Gardeners series. First, Raymond Western will be presenting the importance of natural florals incorporated into Guerlain’s perfume lines. This presentation will take place at 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm at Garden Town (the old Wonders of Life Pavilion).
Next, Tom MacCubbin, who many local Orlando residents are familiar with, will be sharing his vast knowledge at 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
Also the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs will showcase the elaborate floral displays created by their members at 10:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Finally within this series at Garden Town will be the Florida Farmer’s Market. You can visit the ultimate Florida Farmer’s Market to see all the wonderful fresh produce our state has to offer.
Flower Power Concert Series
Continuing this popular concert series, this weekend you can listen to Ricky Nelson Remembered, Featuring the Nelsons. The concert series takes place in the American Gardens Theater and will be at: 5:15 pm, 6:30 pm and 7:45 pm Friday through Sunday.
The Nelsons are Matthew & Gunnar Nelson; the grandsons of one of TV’s most iconic moms – Harriet Nelson from ABC’s “The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet” the longest running live action sitcom in TV history starring a real American family including their father Rock’n’Roll Legend Ricky Nelson. The Nelson family is the only family in history with three (3) generations of #1 hitmakers. Through their own success with internationally known rock group NELSON, Matthew & Gunnar have written and performed NELSON’s hits including #1 Billboard mega hit “Love and Affection”, and Top Ten singles “After the Rain” and “More Than Ever” and have sold over 4 million albums worldwide. NELSON, the original rock band (and a staple of MTV) recently reunited touring for the first time in 15 years. VH1 ranked “Love and Affection” among the “100 Greatest Songs of the 90s”.
Wrapping it up
There is a lot of ways to celebrate the moms in our lives, but Epcot certainly offers a wonderful series of events to share throughout this Mother’s Day weekend.
