Suites of armor line the entryway

The Annual Passholder Previews have begun for the New Fantasyland and we had a great time on Saturday wandering the new land again. There was not much that has been changed in the past few weeks since we visited during the soft opening, but we had a great surprise when we found out the Be Our Guest restaurant was open for the preview and serving lunch.

We waited for about an hour to get in, but the excitement of dining in the new location combined with a beautiful day helped pass the time quickly.

Suits of armor

Once inside the restaurant we were queued up to the right in the hall filled with suits of armor. In here you get a preview of the menu on digital screens while the suits of armor entertain you with random noises, jokes, and sounds; reminding you that this is an enchanted castle.

Magic Rose

When you finally get up to order, you are provided a magic rose, part of the new digital future for the parks, which will hold your order as you make your way through the cashier to your table.

The Beast's Magic Rose

Once at your table you place your rose and receipt on the table and await your food; we dined in the West Wing where the Beast’s Magic Rose sits on a table. There are 3 dining halls: the main ballroom, the west wing or the belle and beast wing. Each allows you the chance to experience key scenes from the movie while enjoying your meal which arrives by wait staff pushing rolling carts.

Vegetable quiche

We decided to order 4 different items and share them to see which was best. The first item was the Vegetable Quiche made with mushrooms, zucchini, bell peppers, onion, and chive. It is also served with baby lettuce coated with champagne vinaigrette.

Croque Monsieur

The next dish was the Croque Monsieur; a grilled carved ham, gruyere cheese, and béchamel sandwich served with Pommes Frites (french fries). This dish was also tasty and the most filling out of the 4 we ordered.

Grilled Steak Sandwich

I ordered the Grilled Steak Sandwich with garlic butter and pommes frites. This was the weakest dish we ordered. The steak was a bit dry and seemed that it needed something saucier to complement the meal.

Kids Carved Turkey Sandwich

Our littlest diner ordered the Kid’s Carved Turkey Sandwich on multigrain bread with sweet potato wedges and peach applesauce. She liked the sandwich and we all loved the peach applesauce.

Chocolate cream puff

For dessert we ordered 2 cream puffs to split: the Lemon Raspberry Cream Puff and the Chocolate Cream Puff. Both were delicious, but if I had to pick a winner it would have to be the chocolate cream puff.

Wrapping it Up

Music Box with Belle and the Beast

Overall it was an amazing surprise to have lunch at the Be Our Guest restaurant and I cannot wait to try out their dinner menu. Having 3 out of the 4 meals very good is a pretty good success rate for a brand new restaurant in our measure. Also, for our meal and desserts it ran about $53.00 which considering what it costs to eat around the Magic Kingdom quick service restaurants was not too expensive but the quality was a whole lot better. The only other place we have found with comparable quality at the price is the Plaza Restaurant on Main Street U.S.A.

Also, the attention to a lot of the details from the movie truly come across throughout the restaurant. From the snow falling outside the main ball room to the magical rose in the west wing, there are little touches of magic everywhere that only add to the experience of dining in the Beast’s castle.

Finally, since it was a preview there are cast members circulating through the dining area. We spoke with one who was happy to hear our comments good and bad about our experience in order to fine-tune the dining.

If you have a chance to get to the preview and the restaurant is open, be sure to take the time to dine at Be Our Guest restaurant. We will certainly be back for more.
