One thing that immediately caught my eye on my most recent visit to the Magic Kingdom was the incredible amount of construction all around the hub; the moat was drained and they are getting prepared for some major renovations to this are of the park.

You could really see the impact of the changes as you wander around the area, with some prime areas closed off entirely from guest access.

Water plays a major feature in the design of Disney’s Parks and I hope that the changes do not entirely remove it from this part of the Magic Kingdom as it has value for the theme of the area as well as ties back to the time when the moat actually served as the waterway for the Swan Boat ride.

Cinderella Castle is also up for refurb. The crane is readily apparent as you approach the park and in process of repainting the castle. The base coat is the silver sheen you can see on some of the spires above.
