    Mickey Mouse paid a visit to Kansas City this weekend, Walt Disney’s hometown, as he celebrated the unveiling of a traveling art exhibit that pays homage to Walt’s lifelong love of trains. He also unveiled the latest Mickey Mouse-inspired toy train set, Mickey’s Magic Choo Choo, releasing in time for the holidays.

    EPCOT’s (notice the spelling, it was still an acronym at this time) second night-time fireworks display was named New World Fantasy. As I was going through my archives I discovered a cache of original animation cels used to produce portions of the show.

    EPCOT as many of us know stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. It was the original concept for the Florida Project, but was abandoned shortly after Walt’s death in 1966. Nevertheless, the idea still had merit in the company and was continued in development over the years.

    One of the great partnerships the Walt Disney Co. had was with Mattel. They have a long history of bringing great toys to market inspired by Disney’s magic. These are 2 dolls which were a result of this partnership.
